Yes, yes, I realize I fall behind in chronicling my numerous adventures. But seriously, I've been busy!!
Anyhoo, last month my aunt, my cousin, her hubby (my cousin-in-law?), and I went to see this very Austin-y event at Auditorium Shores on Town Lake (or Lady Bird Lake, whatever it is now)--the Red Bull Flugtag.

Let me tell you, it was freakin' HOT. And I
don't mean just hellaciously hot, but the air was heavy with humidity too.Supposedly they were to open the gates at 5 pm, but I have some friends (hi V!) that got there at 4:30 and managed to get a prime spot on the grass near the ramp. So my crew got there at about 5:40 and found what might have been a decent spot except that we wouldn't be able to actually see anything until it fell in
to the water. My aunt and I ultimately decided that we were also going to get stumbled on as the night wore on, so we made the command decision to move. And thank goodness we did!! We had been fairly close to the lake, and we moved back a little, kind of up the hilly part a bit, and lordy, we could feel a nice breeze!! And we had space, so all the drunk ones wouldn't stumble over us nearly as much. We ended up right near hte stage--we got to see the guy from Jane's Addiction sing the Star Spangled Banner. And we had a good view of the monitor...And did I mention the nice breeze? Sadly the breeze wasn't enough to help any of the rigs to fly very far, not even the one that was a vacuum cleaner:
It was all fun nonetheless (beer helped)
and we left shortly before it ended, crossing the very crowded bridge and heading to Magnolia Cafe for some yummy queso.
